Emerging Technology
One type of emerging technology is the iPad. The iPad has multiple uses and can be used to get on the internet in general, or students can use apps to do complex things in the classroom such as dissecting a frog. iPads are very expensive, but the pros would outweigh the cost and in the long run would be a good investment for schools.

Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies
One example of a traditional audio technology is the use of audiotapes in classrooms. Audiotapes are inexpensive and easy to use. One way they could be used in a classroom would be for a teacher to record classes so that students who are absent can take home a tape of the class they missed to catch up. An example of an emerging audio technology is internet radio. With internet radio, teachers can find audio that complements their lessons and have students listen to it. Using audio clips instead of just taking notes from a slideshow or the book can make a lesson different, and more interesting.
A traditional visual technology is print materials. Printable technologies still play an important part in the modern classroom. They can be used to allow students to take work home regardless of if they have access to technology at home. An example of an emerging visual technology is a document camera. These cameras can be used to display real-time 3-D objects, pictures, show transparencies, and capture video images. These can be used to instruct a class using a cell phone or iPod touch, and allowing everyone to see how the teacher is using it.

Response to Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom
Based on the information in the chapter and the information we discussed in class, I would rather teach in a classroom that has more digital technologies. Technology in the classroom can be beneficial to both students and teachers. Students can use technology to save money, time, and to access information easily. Disabled students can use technology to aid them with communication skills and participating in class. Teachers can use technology to manipulate data and make information accessible to everyone. Teachers can use output technologies to share data with students. For example, a printer can be used to print copies of handouts or study guides for students, or a projector and screen can be used to allow students to view information from a computer on the board in class. Teachers can also use input technologies to their advantage. For example, a mouse and keyboard can be used to document a student’s grades and post them online for students and their parents to view. In conclusion, I believe technology is a tool that I would like to use when I teach in the future.
