Response to Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom

Based on the information in the chapter and the information we discussed in class, I would rather teach in a classroom that has more digital technologies. Technology in the classroom can be beneficial to both students and teachers. Students can use technology to save money, time, and to access information easily. Disabled students can use technology to aid them with communication skills and participating in class. Teachers can use technology to manipulate data and make information accessible to everyone. Teachers can use output technologies to share data with students. For example, a printer can be used to print copies of handouts or study guides for students, or a projector and screen can be used to allow students to view information from a computer on the board in class. Teachers can also use input technologies to their advantage. For example, a mouse and keyboard can be used to document a student’s grades and post them online for students and their parents to view. In conclusion, I believe technology is a tool that I would like to use when I teach in the future.
